Position Summary
The Caregiver provides compassionate, respectful, and dependable assistance to senior living residents while promoting their dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life. The caregiver supports residents with activities of daily living, personal care, mobility, meals, and companionship while following the community’s care plans, policies, and safety procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide respectful, person-centered care based on each resident’s individual needs and care plan.
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, and other personal-care needs.
- Assist with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and other mobility needs as appropriate.
- Support residents with meals, hydration, and dining activities.
- Provide companionship and encourage participation in activities and social programs.
- Observe residents for changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral condition and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor or licensed staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Follow infection-control, emergency, fall-prevention, and workplace-safety procedures.
- Assist with housekeeping and laundry tasks as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident care and observations.
- Respect resident privacy, confidentiality, personal preferences, and rights at all times.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, coworkers, and healthcare professionals.
- Respond appropriately to resident emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous caregiving, senior living, assisted living, home care, or healthcare experience preferred.
- Caregiver certification or required state training, if applicable.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required according to community policy and applicable regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work compassionately with older adults, including residents with memory impairment or dementia.
- Must demonstrate reliability, patience, professionalism, and a genuine desire to serve seniors.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting residents with mobility.

Work Environment
This position works in a senior living community and involves frequent interaction with residents, families, visitors, and other members of the care team. The caregiver may work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on the community’s staffing needs.
Physical Requirements
The caregiver must be able to perform essential job duties safely, including prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent bending and reaching, and assisting residents with transfers and mobility. Reasonable accommodations may be provided as required by applicable law.
