Position Summary
The Senior Living Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals for residents while following established menus, food-safety standards, and dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to planned menus.
- Follow residents’ special diets, allergies, and food preferences.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
- Prepare food in appropriate portions and ensure meals are served on time.
- Monitor food supplies and communicate inventory needs to the supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with kitchen and senior living staff.
- Provide courteous and respectful service to residents.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food-service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary instructions.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work as part of a team.
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, or institutional food service is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
